People have a hard time being objective about themselves. They're really not egotistical at all. You have to work with them to show them what their strengths and accomplishments are. Friedman echoes many recruiters and human resources professionals belief in a chronological resume that stays away from the functional, generic formula. He does advise including career objectives and career summaries in general terms, so the prospective employer can see how your long term goals coincide with the company's. If you've been in a variety of roles in your past employment such as sales, marketing and management, list all three, even if only one is applicable to the position you're seeking. Showing your ability to be adaptable and versatile is always beneficial. |
